BARBEQUE SAUCE - The Farm Vegetarian Cookbook

Yield: Makes 3 cups from The Farm Vegetarian Cookbook

Ingredients: 

1 large onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup oil

2 1/2 cups tomato sauce

1/4  cup brown sugar

1 Tbsp. molasses

1/2 cup mustard

1 tsp salt

1 tsp. allspice

2 tsp. crushed red pepper

2 Tbsp. parsley, minced

1/4 cup water

1 Tbsp. soy sauce

1/4 cup lemon juice

Assembly: 

Saute chopped onion and minced garlic in oil until onions are soft. Use a heavy bottomed pan.

Add all ingredients except lemon juice and soy sauce. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for an hour. Stir occassionally.

Add lemon juiceand soy sauce and cook 10 minutes longer.

This keeps well in the refrigerator.
